MiniGruper Seed and Fertilizer
ALSO SUITABLE FOR FEED DELIVERY AND MIXING

SINGLE AUGER DISCHARGE - DOUBLE OR SINGLE BIN
5 cubic metre capacity  (capacity can be extended if required)

Transport and dispense Feed, Seed or Fertilizer.
Load and air seeder or conventional seed drill.

CONSTRUCTION

The bin is constructed on a high tensile RHS chassis with "A" frame pull to which is attached a load sharing 4 tonne bogie leaf suspension. Heavy duty axles and Landcruiser hubs are used with a choice of wheels. Wide spoke rims and new tubeless tyres are fitted as standard.  Brakes are optional, either over-ride or electric. Electric brakes are required if a VIN plate is to be fitted for registration. The unit is built to withstand harsh punishment over rough country.

DIMENSIONS & CAPACITY

Overall length (with auger folded in transport position) is 5.5 metres, width is 2.5 metres and the overall height from the ground is 2.6 metres. The auger reach when extended is 2.4 metres from the side of the trailer, end of auger clearance height is approx. 2.5 metres. Capacity of the double bin is equivalent to approx. 2 tonne of wheat and 2.5 tonne of DAP.

FEATURES

The standard unit has an open top with a tarp support frame. A hinged steel lid or a roll top tarp can be fitted as an option. An external ladder  is provided as well as internal access rungs and handles in each compartment. The unit can be towed with a tractor, four wheel drive or a light truck, depending on the operating conditions.

DRIVE SYSTEM

A simple drive system using the very reliable 6 HP Vanguard motor mounted at the rear of the bin is coupled directly to a hefty American made gearbox. The motor is bolted to an adjustable lever operated slide, the lever disengages the drive should starting under load be required. Lock on steel pulleys are used throughout which provide long wearing life and are easy to remove when eventually sealed bearings require replacing.

DISCHARGE SYSTEM

The single 150mm auger folds back along the side of the bin, it automatically locks for transport. For operation the auger is hinged out and locked with an over centre latch and is supported by a steel cable attached to the top of the bin. Minimum  effort  is required to swing the auger out. The bottom section of the auger flight is supported by a bearing bush at the hinge point, the drive automatically couples when the auger is extended. Telescopic PVC tubes and a flexible coupling attached to the end of the auger enables the operator to direct the seed or fertilizer flow to the required point.

OPERATION- SEEDER FILLING

The auger should always left empty so the motor can be started with the belt tension engaged. With the auger running and the telescopic spout in position for filling, the seed (or fertilizer) rope is pulled & the knot attached to the keyhole shaped hook. When the required amount has almost discharged release the rope, allow the auger to run for 10-20 seconds, place the spout in the other box of your seeder then pull and hook the second control rope in a similar way. When this box of your seeder is almost full, release the rope and allow the auger to clean out again and then switch of the ignition on the motor. Because their will be a slight amount of seed or fertilizer remaining in the auger, fore the next fill use the same compartment, this will reduce the slight amount of mixing to an absolute minimum. When changing seed varieties clean out the bin and auger thoroughly, if possible run your seed out completely as well. Alternating between seed and fertilizer keeps the auger free of any build up.

OPERATION- FEED TRANSFER & MIXING

For feed transfer the operation is similar to above. For mixing, the knots on each rope are adjusted so that when set the required proportions flow into the running auger, the mixture is then transferred directly into feed troughs or self feeders etc. The agitation while passing through the auger further mixes the two components. The lower portion of the auger can be used to fill troughs if a spout is fitted and the top section folded back.

OTHER OPTIONAL SPECIFICATIONS

For lighter weight feeds the bin sizes can be increased up to a total capacity of 9 cubic metres and three internal hoppers can be included using the single discharge auger for mixing.

STORAGE

Preferably under cover, thorough cleaning is recommended especially any build up of fertilizer or moist material.
